Oprah’s Fat Loss Workouts Suck

Ophrah, Oprah, Oprah.  What am I going to do with you?

Yes, you have some pretty good shows from what I hear ( I swear I don’t watch them…really…I’m a guy, why would I watch Oprah).

You give some good things to needy people.  You give lots of useless stuff away a couple times a year and we all get to watch the ladies in attendance scream their freaky little brains out.

Have you ever seen those scenes when she does her “favorite things” episode?  My lord those ladies are crazy!

But what really tops the cake is the workouts she puts in her magazine.

My sister-in-law forwarded me an article from the on-line version of the magazine that showed a 10 minute workout because she thought I’d be interested in it.

It piqued my interest, I must admit so I checked it out.  I wanted to see if they gave the readers of O a good fat loss workout in only 10 minutes.

Man oh man was I disappointed.

To say Oprah’s fat loss workout sucked is an understatement.

It was utterly useless and I honestly can’t understand why anyone would design such a horrible workout.

It focused only on “isolation” movements that really don’t do anything in terms of fat loss.

Yes I understand that those are the exercises ladies are used to seeing, but there should come a time when someone with some sway with a lot of ladies, and especially with Oprah, should say enough is enough.  We’re going to stop lying to these ladies that they can lose fat by doing these worthless exercises.  It’s time to stop lying to our valued readers, who pay our bills, and tell them the truth.

The truth is that you can get a good fat loss workout done in 10 minutes, but the exercises need to be different.  They need to work every single muscle in your entire body, not just the small ones like your triceps or inner thighs.

Doing those isolation exercises will not help you burn fat.  In fact they’re a waste of your precious time.

If you’re going to do a workout in 10 minutes you need to focus on push-ups, squats, lunges, planks, combination exercises, etc. so that you really get your heart pumping, your metabolism cranked up and your fat burning jacked as high as humanly possible in those 10 minutes so that you’re not only burning calories while you’re exercising, but so you’re burning fat the rest of the day!

And don’t get me started about not wanting to do things like push-ups and squats because they’re “mannish” or will “bulk you up” because that myth is old and needs to be forgotten FOREVER.  It will NOT happen to you.  I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but it won’t.

It’s just not possible.

I’ve heard it hundreds, possibly thousands of times from ladies and I have designed hundreds, possibly thousands of training programs for ladies and NOT once has any of those ladies built big, hulking muscles.  It’s just not possible.

So what does a good 10 minute fat loss workout look like?

I’m glad you asked because I wrote one just for you.

Perform this workout as a circuit, moving from one exercise to the next without any rest (or as little as possible).  Do as many circuits as you can in 10 minutes and you’re done!

1. Push-up – 10 reps
2. Bodyweight Stationary Lunge – 10 per leg
3. Plank – 30 seconds
4. Dumbbell Squat w/Shoulder Press – 10 reps
5. Mountain Climber – 30 seconds
6. DB Rear Flies – 10 reps

I challenge Oprah’s people to come up with a more effective, efficient fat burning workout!
