When I say the words “cardio workout” to most people, the immediate thoughts are of treadmills, bikes, elliptical machines or running and walking.  Something done for an extended period of time and usually unbelievably boring.

But does that really make a good cardio workout?

Do you have to do cardio workouts that way in order to lose weight and get rid of stomach fat?

What if you don’t have a gym membership (or don’t want one) and don’t have the time to head out for a 30 minute run?

Can you do a cardio workout using only your own bodyweight…in less than 10 minutes?

Check this video out to see a great 10 minute bodyweight cardio workout that really kicks your fat burning up a few notches

Weekly Workout Wrap-up

Friday, February 27th, 2009

I haven’t done a very good job lately at updating what my workouts are looking like, so I’ll play a little catch-up.

I have been mixing my 10 minute workouts in with workouts geared more towards strength and muscle building.  Some will tell you that you shouldn’t concentrate on more than one thing at once, which is true to a point, but I’ve increased my deadlift by 30 pounds, my bench press by 15 pounds, and I’ve gained 15 pounds while maintaining a 31 inch waist.

Not too shabby if you ask me.  One of the biggest reasons I’ve been able to gain so much weight and strength is that I’ve cut down on the amount of work I do.

I love working out.  I love doing my 10 minute workouts and I enjoy following along with the ladies in my boot camps, but it just gets to be too much for the body to handle.

In the Fall/early Winter, I was doing too much and lost a lot of weight – and most of it wasn’t fat, given I didn’t have much fat to lose.  I lost a lot of muscle and it showed.  Read More→

I’ve Been A Very Bad Boy

Monday, February 16th, 2009

OK, so I have been a very bad boy lately.

A couple weeks ago my good bloggy friend Petra over at The Wise Young Mommy gave me a pretty cool award and I didn’t follow the rules.

I’m not good at accepting things like that because I just do this blog because I enjoy sharing information on weight loss, fitness and health with everybody.  Plus I like to debunk some of those crappy weight loss myths that are out there.  I don’t do it to get an award, but I’m not going to lie and tell you it’s not cool.

Evidently, the award means:
“This award shows the values that every blogger shows in his or her effort to transmit cultural, literal, ethical and personal values every day.”

Thems some big dang words there, huh?

But here’s the award.

Now that I’ve posted about it, I’ve got to pass it along…

I’m only going to give it to a couple of well-deserving blogs.

One being Eric over at Oh My God I’m A Daddy.  He’s a soon-to-be-dad and he’s totally pumped for it, which is very cool.  Becoming a dad for the first time was the coolest thing in the world for me and he’s going to love it as well.

The other is The Hussy over at My Suburban Can Run Over Your Minivan.  She has graciously allowed me to be the official personal trainer at her blog “The Muffin Top Killers” and she runs a fantastic blog as well.

The rules are:

1) Accept the award and post it on your blog along with the name of the person who gave you the award.

2) Pass it on to (15) bloggers that you know who deserve it.  I only did 2 because I didn’t feel like doing the extra work.  I’m a lazy personal trainer.

What would this world be like without our wonderful Clark Kent?

Well, to read up on my search you need to head over to Clark’s Blog:
