Quick Diet And Exercise Tip

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

fitdadTVI don’t like working out with other people.  That’s not totally true because if I have a workout buddy, I generally work harder BUT I don’t like working out in gyms and I sure as hell don’t like it when people walk into my studio while I’m doing a workout.

Mostly because I don’t want to try and have a conversation with a potential client…or crappy salesperson, while I’m sweaty and panting.

It makes me grumpy.

However, today while I was working out my “water man” stopped by to drop off some water jugs and we struck up a little conversation because he looked like he had lost weight and given that this is the time of year most folks GAIN weight, I wanted to see what he’s been doing over the past couple months to get rid of that blubber.

Check the video out to see what he told me…you may be surprised at his answer.

So what do you think?

Is it really that simple or was he feeding me full of crap?

fitdadTVEverybody likes to work their abs, right?

Okay, so maybe “like” is a strong word, but everybody wants to work their abs.

If that weren’t true, there wouldn’t be gobs of abs exercise gizmos on late-night infomercials or in virtually every department store – not to mention sitting in many people’s closets and basements.

There are different ways to work the abs than wasting your money on worthless gadgets and gizmos, or even doing crunches and, dare I say, Planks.

It’s easier for me to just show you.

To see what I mean and find out an awesome way to work your abs, give this video a watch…

Give those exercise tweaks a try in your next workout and, if done right, you should feel it in your abs the next day.

Unorthodox, And Dare I Say Fun, Way To Work Your Abs

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

fitdadTVDo you like toys?

I love ‘em.

When I was a kid, I had a ton of toys – most went unused, as most kids’ toys do.

Now that I’m a big boy, I’ve moved on to different types of toys.  I have a couple guitars (and plan on getting many more), I have re-discovered skateboarding and plan on getting a couple more skateboards, as well as my various electronic gadgets.

Why?  I have no flippin’ idea!

However, I do enjoy getting and experimenting with new toys in my training studio.

I enjoy figuring out new ways to train people with unorthodox “toys” like sandbags and carpet sliders.

Carpet sliders are my new favorite because they’re an awesome, and very unorthodox, way to really hit the abs.

Any exercise you do with them, they work your abs and core very intensely, whether it’s because of the balance involved or just because of the way you have to do the exercise, they hit the abs and they hit ‘em hard.

Watch this video to see what I mean…

So what do you think?  Are you going to rush out and buy a pair?  I use them on a daily basis and can tell a big difference in my own abs – strength and definition.

Have an awesome day!

P.S. – What do you think?  Did that concept make sense?  Are you guilty of it?  If so, what have you found helps you overcome it?  Let me know in the comments below.

fitdadTVToday’s “Spend A Minute With The Fit Dad” goes over a pretty innocent, yet very important question.

It’s the problem that most, if not all, dieters go through when they try to lose weight.

It’s one of those “Duh” questions and concepts, but it’s also something that’s easier said than done…

Yet when put into action is the true key to long lasting fat loss.

What do you think?  Do you agree with what I have to say?

fitdadTVIt should come as no surprise by now how much I hate love Planks.

I think they are one of the best core/abs exercises – a heck of a lot better than crunches by the way – because they not only work every part of your stomach, but they also work your shoulders, upper back, chest and low back.

Working a lot of muscle at once is one of the most important things you can remember when trying to get your workouts done in a short period of time – like 10 minutes.

Plus you can do them anywhere, virtually any time, so that takes that excuse and chucks it out the window.

Even though my love for Planks goes far and wide (making people do them, not personally doing them…I hate doing the damn things), I’ll be the first to admit that they can be kind of boring.

That’s why today’s edition of “Spend A Minute With The Fit Dad” focuses on a few of my favorite Plank variations.

I show you 3 different Plank variations that you’ve probably never seen, heard of or done before.

P.S. – I should have told you this last week, but I’m doing some of my videos a little differently.  I’m doing them more of a “TV Show” style.  I don’t want to call it a TV show because it’s not.  But it’s going to be fun.  I’ll do more talking directly to you, and addressing your questions, wants and needs when it comes to quick workouts, and nutrition.  They’re going to be very short – Hence the name “Spend A Minute With The Fit Dad” – and will be loaded with valuable information.

Good times…always good times!

How Intense Does Your 10 Minute Workout Need To Be?

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

fitdadTVIntensity is a key part of every fat loss workout.

If your intensity is too low, you won’t get results.

If your intensity is too high, the form of your exercise and workout will suffer and you could get injured, or you won’t get the results you’re after.

Intensity is especially important when dealing with 10 minute workouts.  You’ve got to make sure you’re working hard enough, but keeping good form, if you want to make these home fat loss workouts work.

So how do you know if you’re working with enough intensity in your fat loss workout?

Watch this short little video I made and see.
