Bodyweight Fat Loss Workout And Who Is The World’s Busiest Dad

My daughter is learning more and more words every day.

It’s a lot of fun, especially when you can get her to say things that are funny.

We’re in the midst of potty-training, which has its own ups and downs, but the words and phrases she’s saying are quite funny.

Just to give you an example, this weekend I taught her the word "stinky"…I’m pretty sure you can guess why.

Now she’s starting to say that, and it’s just so darn cute, even though she does stink when she says it.

Another one of her new activities is trying to mimic mommy and daddy while they do a bodyweight workout in the living room.More…

Either that or when we do push-ups she tries to climb on our legs.  Andrea has thrown her on my back before while doing push-ups and that is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Her 23 or 24 pound body feels like 100 when it’s laid out across my upper back!

She loves it though, so I let her do it.

Anyway, I thought I’d give you an example of a bodyweight workout that I like to do in my living room.

I’ve been doing these in place of my regular interval training cardio workouts because they’re more fun and I "feel it" more…meaning that I sweat a lot more and am winded, which is what you want when you’re doing a fat loss cardio session right?

Warm-up:  3 sets, no rest between exercises

Wood Chop – 10 reps
Cross Body Wood chop – 10 reps

Workout:  Performed in tri-sets, 4 sets of each

1A)  Push-up – 15 reps
1B)  BW Squat – 15 reps
1C)  Plank w/Leg Lift – 10 each side

2A)  "T" Push-up – 12 reps
2B)  Reverse BW Lunge – 15 per leg
2C)  Reverse Plank – 30 sec.

3A)  Pike Push-up – 12 reps
3B)  BW Forward Lunge – 12 per leg
3C)  Mt. Climbers – 30 seconds

That was it.  It took around 15 minutes, or maybe 20.  I can’t remember.

And some of my lunges and squats weren’t bodyweight only because Maren wanted me to hold her while I did them.

Since I’m talking about my own family, I thought I’d also share with you a little bit about a buddy of mine, Chris Lopez.

Chris is, without a doubt, the world’s busiest dad.  He is a father to 4 beautiful little girls, a devoted husband, busy personal trainer and, best of all, a mini-van driver.

Chris has been known to do his workouts wherever and whenever he finds the time and place.

He’s even told me stories about doing a workout in the parking lot of his daughter’s school while waiting for school to get out.
