A Story That’s Tough To Tell, But You NEED To Read

I’ve gone back and forth about whether or not to write this article for a few weeks.

On the one hand it’s a topic that everyone needs to take to heart and is about much more than just losing fat, getting toned, gaining muscle or getting sexy.

Those are all good things to be after, but some things are more important ya know?

But on the other hand it’s a topic that I’ve never totally come to grips with personally.  It still pains me a little bit to talk about it and probably always will.

But I think it needs to be talked about and I think that you and I will be glad I did talk about it.

My mom passed away 6 years ago, when I was only 23 years old.  She was only in her mid 50’s and was far too young to go.

She had a pretty rare form of cancer, but her cancer was in remission when she passed away.

I know the cancer played a major role in her illness and subsequent death, but like I said, it was in remission the entire time she was in the hospital.

She suffered a lot while in the hospital, going in and out of intensive care units and losing virtually all of her muscular function due to being in a bed for over 6 months.

Her immune system was virtually non-existent when she got sick, which is a large reason why she got sick.

While I was growing up my mom yo-yo’d with her weight much like many people do today.  She also was a cardio-aholic and struggled with her weight for years, plus she tried about every diet under the sun and didn’t eat very nutritiously.

All of these things played a huge role in her impaired immune system, as they will do to you if you yo-yo diet and workout too much and try wacky diets.

But the reason I’m telling you all this is that her cancer, poor immune system, hospital stay and subsequent death have made me want to know and learn as much as I possibly can about health, wellness and fitness.

It has driven me to become as informed as I possibly can so that I can do the most I possibly can to prevent such a horrible disease like cancer not only in myself but in you too.

If I can read, study and learn and pass my knowledge on to you I feel that I am doing my part in keeping you healthy and happy and make it that much more possible that you can live life to its fullest whether that be with your kids or whatever it is you want to do.

I don’t want to just give you information so you can lose fat and look sexy.

Don’t get me wrong, that’s a great goal to strive for and it’s one I strive for continually…admit you do too.

I want you to be healthy, strong and live a vibrant life.

I want you to be there for your kids, grand-kids and great grandkids and be as healthy as you can possibly be.

I don’t want you to miss important moments in your life or your family’s life because of health reasons.

I want you to be there for everything.

Please don’t misunderstand what I’m saying.  I don’t blame my mom for her wrecked immune system, cancer or early death.  Quite the contrary.  I wish I could have shared with her all the information I share with you on a weekly basis so she didn’t have to struggle with her weight and health and get lied to by “experts” who were just after her money and didn’t give a rat’s you know what about her health and well-being.

Anytime you go on a starvation diet you wreck your immune system.

Anytime you go on a crazy exercise binge and exercise for hours a day, you wreck your immune system.

Anytime you neglect eating quality foods and instead turn to restaurants and fast food for most of your meals, you wreck your immune system.

You may think you’re doing yourself a favor and striving for convenience, but you’re in fact, wrecking one of the most important parts of you.  The part that keeps your body running and keeps you healthy and illness free.

I honestly cannot remember the last time I was sick and it’s largely because I exercise every day, eat lots of fruits and vegetables and good snacks (thanks to my wife), and eat quality meals (again, thanks to my wife) and I don’t go overboard on any of it.

I have programs in place for my workouts that I stick to and know that if I do too much I’ll crash (which I did this summer by the way).

I know what it feels like to eat healthy and be fit and I know what it feels like to eat poorly and not be fit and I strive to stay in the healthy and fit “zone” as much as possible because it feels so damn good.

You should also strive to be in that healthy and fit zone not just to look good, but to feel good and have enough energy to live life to its fullest.

I know you can do it and I will help you every step of the way.
