I culdon’t agree more. I wonder, though, how much is arrogance and how much is plain ignorance. There is a lot of solid information out there for those that want to learn good cycling practices, but I think there are just a lot of people who think they know enough already, and their knowledge base supports things like riding on sidewalks and in crosswalks, riding against the flow of automobile traffic, helmets being optional, traffic signals being only advisory, etc. They basically see cycling as a faster alternative to walking, and safety concerns–for themselves or for others–never enter their heads.I’m very happy to see cycling instruction coming to P.E. classes in some secondary schools. Perhaps someday safe cycling can be promoted in the lower grades as well.

It must be the late night grocery store stops to pick up a sub, after you've slammed the Starbucks and blueberry muffin...all before Survivor comes on.

You should write these down that way you can do them in the hospital while you're waiting for the little one to arrive.

Gina - Those people are absolutely right. You do need to add some resistance training. You don't need to do it through classes, though. You don't need to spend 45-60 minutes doing resistance training. I'm not a big believer in long, drawn out workouts. I get bored easily, as do most people, plus they're not necessary.

Why don't you email me at ed@fatlosstogo.com and we can chat further.

You know your stuff! I actually took a 45 minute spin class tonight. Although when I first finished, I thought my butt was going to fall off my body, I now feel MUCH better. :) And yes, that is totally what I am after!

I do have one other question for you. I have been told by a few people that adding weight lifting to my workout routine a couple times a week will increase my metabolism. There is a class I like at my gym on Sundays. For the second class, would it be okay if I went on Tuesday or should I wait until Wednesday or Thursday? Thanks!
