Want to know how to make a fit fella feel like an out-of-shape toad?  Take him to the mountains and make him do a bodyweight workout as soon as you get there.

Andrea and I headed up to the mountains of Colorado over the weekend because I had a business meeting and after sitting in the car for 8 hours, I needed to do something to get me loosened up and get the aches out of my muscles.

I hadn’t done a workout for the day because it seemed as though I was in slow motion that morning, so I thought it would be a good way to clear my head and get a second wind before we headed out for dinner.

So while Andrea was getting cleaned up I decided to do a body-weight workout out in the living room.

10 minutes later, I stumbled into the bedroom panting like a fat kid chasing after the ice cream truck in the middle of August (bad joke…sorry).

“What’s the matter with you?” Andrea asked with a goofy look on her face.

“I did a bodyweight workout in the living room and feel like my lungs are going to explode…and my head too.”  Granted it took me a few minutes to spit out that entire sentence, but it sounded like a good idea at the time.

But after I caught my breath, I did feel pretty good.  It felt great to be able to get my muscles loosened up and metabolism revved back up from sitting on my butt all day behind the wheel.

The really great thing about bodyweight workouts is that they can be done anywhere, and at anytime.  I could’ve done a mini-bodyweight workout while getting gas, but I’m a little self-conscious about such things.

If you’re wondering what I did, watch the 10 minute bodyweight workout video below.  It’s not of me panting in Colorado, but it is the same workout I did.

Here’s an abs workout that I could’ve done afterward…had I not felt like my lungs and head were going to explode.
